Our Pastor & Grace Redeemer’s Story
Welcome to Grace Redeemer Church
Hi! My name is David Kim, and I serve as the lead pastor here at Grace Redeemer Church. I’m married to my best friend, Ruth (first met in 6th grade), and together we’re enjoying the blessings of being recent empty nesters and we love this new season of life to deepen our marriage of 25 years!
I’ve been in church ministry since graduating from UCSD (University of California, San Diego) in 1995. I completed my theological training at Talbot School of Theology in 2000 and was ordained in 2001—formative steps that prepared me for future pastoral calling.
In March 2016, I became the English Ministry lead pastor at Cerritos Mission Church. Then in February 2020, our English congregation became an independent church—Grace Redeemer Church—formed around the conviction that the gospel is not just a starting point, but the sustaining center of all of life and ministry. Just three weeks after launching, the global pandemic hit. But what looked like a discouraging beginning turned into a testimony of God’s sustaining grace. This year, we joyfully celebrated our church’s 5th anniversary.
So what defines Grace Redeemer Church? At our core, we are seeking to be a gospel-centered community learning to live in the good news of Jesus every day. We believe the gospel isn’t just a buzzword—it is the power of God to save, renew, and transform both unbelievers and believers. You’ll hear me preach the Bible, confront sin, exalt Jesus, and depend on the Holy Spirit for real change.
In addition to pastoring, I also serve as a Sonship Mentor with Serge (www.serge.org), walking alongside pastors, missionaries, and anyone desiring to grow deeper in gospel freedom and identity.
If you’re looking for a place to explore the riches of God’s grace and walk in community with others seeking & being shaped by the gospel—we’d love to meet you. Let’s grow in the gospel together!
I hope to see you in person soon!
