Starting the Journey
“They say the longest journey is from the head to the heart.”
I’ve seen how true that is. We know the correct theology. We can articulate the gospel in terms of grace, justification, substitution, and adoption. However, those truths often reside only in our minds. And sadly, the gospel doesn’t seem to have any power to shape the way we feel, respond, or live.
But here’s the thing that I have realized. It doesn’t have to be a long journey!
The distance feels long only because we so easily default to unbelief—trusting in ourselves, creating false idols, or depending on our performance rather than Christ. That’s what makes the journey from head to heart so hard.
But it doesn’t have to stay that way.
This blog is about that gap. And the only way across that distance is this … Repentance and faith. And through repentance and faith, the journey from head to heart is miraculously shortened by the work of the Holy Spirit.
This blog is my daily journey back home to my Abba, Father’s house.
I’ll share real moments from my life—where the gospel confronts my fears, doubts, pride, self-righteousness, and self-reliance, and calls me back to rest in Jesus again. I’ll share from the most mundane of situations—moments that lead me back home to where joy is found. My hope is that as I walk this journey of repentance and faith, you’ll be encouraged to re-believe the gospel in the very places you tend to forget.
Welcome to The Longest Journey—my many returns home to the Father’s house.
